Bee Network

Today as part of my role as a member of the Greater Manchester Bee Network I undertook a tour of the TFGM Control Centre. This is where road traffic, trams and buses are monitored and every effort is made to improve the flow across the network.

It was really pleasing to see after this mornings failure of the lights are the Higher Hillgate / Longshut Lane / Hempshaw Lane junction the team where keeping a close eye on the juction.

It was intresting to see how the team can instantly activate new traffic light priorities as incidents or congestion occurs, to enable the best flow. The new lights to be installed at the fingerpost will finally be fully part of this system which will improve the flow through our ward.

The other major roll this control centre does is monitor the safety of passengers across the public transport network, working with the police and the travel safe officers they are able to quicly react to incidents.

With regard the traffic light failure from this morning I have already requested a formal report on the cause of this and all of the other failures along this stretch of road, this should be comng forward soon.

If anyone has any throughts on how we can improve the public transport in Manor or the rest of the borough do please get in touch, the more people who make thier views known the better.
