It’s been a productive few days and the sunshine helps the days feel much longer so we can fit more in. On Saturday we joined our colleague Cllr. Helen Hibbert, Offerton Ward to speak to residents.
Problems do not stop at imaginary ward boundaries and I think it is really important we work together to solve problems for residents.
During this week I made the most of my lunch breaks meeting with the team at Vernon Park Veteran Bowling Club regarding some improvements they want to make and meeting residents at Victoria Park on the Walk About with Stockport Homes.
It’s also been a busy week of casework with some real success helping people get somewhere to live and allowing them to access education safely.
Tuesday was the Annual Council Meeting, this is a mostly procedural and ceremonial meeting where the new mayor is selected, but also where the positions on various committees are finalised.
This year I will be on both the Children’s and Families Scrutiny and the Community, Transport and Public Safety Scrutiny committees. Both of these areas are key in my opinion and I am looking forward to scrutinising and challenging the council to ensure we can get the best outcomes.
Councillor Laura Clingan, Manor Ward is on the Adult Social Care & Health Scrutiny Committee another key function of the council.
Councillor Sue Glithero, Manor Ward is on the planning committee and audit committee. The planning committee is essential to ensure we can provide the housing we need right across the borough.
As always please get in touch with any issues we can help with.
Thank you
