It was about 16 months ago when I made my first speech at full council and called on the goverment to scrap the two child cap on benefits.

Along with @[100064014038343:2048:Claire Vibert, Labour Party] I called on the Goverment to scrap the cap but also on the council to ensure that all of its resources and efforts where targeted fairly to end the disparity of experience that our residents in particular our children face here in Stockport.

The most recent figures show that Stockport has both the wealthiest and the most deprived areas in Greater Manchester, ending child poverty is not impossible but it takes political will. I am really pleased to see the Chancellor end this today, first step of many needed but a very important one.
