Last night it was Central Stockport Area Commitee.

As always it was a interesting and useful meeting.

I raised the concerns of residents with Greater Manchester Police about the car cruising on Hall Street, I have been liasing with them and the team from the council for the last 18 months on this issue and it is increasing again. Here in Stockport we have a Public Space Protection Order banning car crusing which will be enforced by the police.

I also again highlighted the issue of vanalism at Woodbank Hall.

Stockport Homes did thier regular update to commitee, this was useful and I asked for updated on the recent water issues in Victoria Park. One of my real concerns was the statisitc on the number of people who are currently unable to pay thier rent in full, having a decent home should be a human right and should not be pushing people into debt to rent a home.

Residents of Maitland Street brough a petition to stop the Rat Running through thier road, road safety is one of my priorities and I have met with the residents to see the issues and talk through them. I thank them for bringing it along to our commitee and we will come back with some potential options.

The other ward specific issue was St Mary's Way, last year our commitee called on the administration to reduce the speed limit on St Mary's Way to 30mph, a change which is proven to reduce the prevelance and impact of road traffic collisions. Across the country councils are reducing the speed limits of 40mph Urban Roads, Stockport Council have proposed this on the A34 in Cheadle, I believe our community deserves the safety benefits this brings also.

As always please get in touch with any issues.
