🥵 what a scorcher today.
Today was the monthly Bee Network Committee which I am currently a member of. This is the committee which works with the Mayor across the whole of Greater Manchester to make our city regions transport better, cleaner and more affordable.
However the heat on the bus today reminded me of the Unite the union and UNISON North West bus drivers, interchange staff and travel safe officers who keep our network going. They don't get to sit in an air conditioned conference room, they just get on with their jobs, getting us all to our destinations.
Just a few months ago these same people were having to fight to get a fair pay settlement from the companies they work for.
The Bee Network needs to work for its workers as well as its passengers. I look forward to working with Bev Craig for Greater Manchester Mayor to make sure it does.
