Yesterday it was great to join Andy Burnham to see the first concept of a Bee Network Train.

But the Bee Network Trains are more than just yellow paint, creating a fully integrated public transport built around providing opportunity and fairness for all of our residents, allowing everyone to benefit from our city region's position as the growth capital of the country.

With accessibility and affordability at its heart, our Bee Network is being created here in Greater Manchester for the people of Greater Manchester, not dictated by Westminster or Private Enterprise.

Over the next three years we will see many of our Stockport lines join the Bee Network serving communities like Bredbury, Woodley, Romiley and Marple, in addition to Stockport, Cheadle Hulme, Davenport, Woodsmoor and Hazel Grove. With the rest to join in the following 2 years.

There is a clear commitment from the Mayor to upgrade accessibility, improve reliability and increase the frequency of services. In conjunction with the current Railways Bill bringing an end to privatisation of train operators this is a major step forward for train passengers.
