Your Manor Ward councillors, Sue Glithero, Laura Clingan and I, have taken the formal step of raising a Councillor Call for Action over the lack of progress on the Woodbank Memorial Park Play Area upgrade.

A Councillor Call for Action is one of the strongest tools available to local councillors. It's used when all other avenues have been exhausted and compels the council to publicly account for its failure to act. It is rarely used and not a step we take lightly, but that should tell you just how seriously we are taking this.

And we've certainly exhausted every avenue. This project has been fully funded for over two years. We've been chasing updates and pushing for action since May 2024. We've raised it with the Cabinet Member, Directors, and senior officers. Despite all of this, nothing has happened on the ground.

Our children and families in Manor Ward deserve better than empty promises and endless delays. This play area upgrade should have been delivered by now.

This is placed on the agenda for the Central Stockport Area Committee on 12th March, where it will be subject to public scrutiny.

We won't stop pushing until work begins and our children have the play area they were promised.

If you feel as strongly about this as we do, share this post and make your voice heard. The council needs to know that Manor Ward is watching.
